The famous Bulgarian trio "Vladigerov" will perform its only concert in Moscow on 27 February in the Round Hall of the Library of Foreign Literature upon the kind invitation of Bulgarian Cultural Institute.

Ekaterina, Alexander and Konstantin were born in Sofia in the family of the famous conductor and composer Alexander P. Vladigerov (1933 - 1993) and the actress Velichka Chobanova-Vladigerova.  

They make their first steps in the world of music under the supervision of their father and by the influence of the artistic spirit of the home of their grandfather - Prof. Pancho Vladigerov (1899 - 1978) - in March 2012 it will be the 113th Anniversary of his birth.  

The three of them graduated from "L. Pipikov" Musical High School and then "Pancho Vladigerov" State Musical Academy in Sofia and the University of musical and scenic arts in Vienna. They have been living for more than 10 years in Vienna and every one of them follows own way of professional development.  

Trio Vladigerov have performed concerts in Vienna, Budapest, Rome, Prague, Sofia, Plovdiv, Berlin, Montreal and Toronto.   They created "Trio Vladigerov" drawn by the strong desire and pleasure to perform music together. The projects of the trio aim at presenting the musical traditions of the Vladigerov family and their development in the course of three different generations.  
Along with the classical musical works composed by their genius grandfather Prof. Pancho Vladigerov pieces of work by his Berlin period have also been included in the program. They are considered one of the first jazz compositions in Bulgarian music. The trio uses original arrangements made by the author and when such are missing - transcriptions made by their father, Alexander P. Vladigerov or their own ones.   The program starts with musical works by Vladigerov from the 1920s and finishes with compositions from the albums of the Vladigerov Brothers.

Pancho Haralanov Vladigerov (1899 - 1978) is a composer, musician, conductor, pedagogue and public figure. Many of the Bulgarian composers have been his alumni.   He was born in Zurich but he spent his early childhood in the town of Shoumen. He started his musical education in the Private musical school in Sofia where his teacher in piano was the Czech musician Henrih Vizner and Dobri Hristov was his teacher in composing and theory of music. It is this time when Pancho made his first attempts in composing.  

From 1912 till 1915 he studied composing and piano in the State Academy in Berlin where he was a student in the classes of Heinrich Bart and Paul Yuon. Then he continued his education at the Academy of arts in the same city. At the academy he used to study piano in the class of Leonid Kroicer and composition - at Friedrich Gernsheim and Georg Shuman.    

At the beginning of his creative career Vladigerov was working as a musician and conductor at the theatre of Max Reinhard in Berlin and performed concerts in Germany, France and Bulgaria in the programs of which he included also "Crazy Dare-Devil" Ballade for voice and piano based on the rhymes by Pencho Slaveykov with the same name and wrote the music for a number of stage performances.  

During these years he created Concert for Piano No 1 and Concert for Violin (the first in our musical culture), "Vardar" Rhapsody (the first musical symphonic piece of work which became famous worldwide - it was based on the song by Dobri Hristov - "One cry to be heard"), etc.  

In 1932 Pancho Vladigerov returned to Bulgaria and became a professor at the Bulgarian State Musical Academy where he had been working for more than 40 years. After he returned to his mother country  the composer created some of his greatest works - the opera "Tzar Kaloyan" (1936), Symphony No 1 (1939), Concert for Piano and Orchestra No 3 (1937), "Improvisation and Toccata" (1942), "Legend for the Lake" Ballet (1946), "Concert Fantasy for Violoncello and Orchestra", "Bulgarian Suit", "9th September" Overture, "Dramatic Poem", "Jewish Impression" and "Lyulin Impression" as well as "Shoumen" and "Aquarelles" miniatures and many others - symphonic music, chamber music, songs, scenic music, etc.
