The activities of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Moscow is characterized by numerous initiatives inspired by historical events included in the calendars of both countries, particular events, anniversaries of institutions and personalities, official visits of representatives of Bulgarian cultural sphere.

The activities of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Moscow include a wide range of events - from the regular monthly program and guests appearances to active contacts with different Russian institutions and international organizations organizing various cultural events. In the period of financial restrictions the "mutual initiatives" formula is a good way for successful realization of a given event ensuring wide publicity.

The good contacts established with Russian cultural institutions such as
the "Rossotrudnichestvo" Federal Agency for cultural cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, "Slavianovedenie" Institute at the Russian Academy of Sciences, "Russkiy Mir" Fund, the Union of Bulgaria's Friends, the Moscow Union of Public Associations, the Society for Friendship with the other Peoples, international musical, theatrical, literature and cinema festivals.

The representation of the European Commission ( in Moscow works actively and cultural initiatives targeting specific regions of the Russian state are part of its activities. That gives a good opportunity for the cultural public outside Moscow to join the initiatives of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute which is regularly participating in the different EC projects.
One of the successful projects is the organizing of the "Days of Europe" ( in different cities within Russia. They are realized with the assistance of the local authorities and the program is entirely based on the proposals of the particular embassies and cultural centers.

Bulgarian Cultural Institute actively cooperates with the various Bulgarian representations in the Russian capital - mainly with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian School at the Embassy, STIV (The Economic Department at the Embassy), the Center for Industry of the Republic of Bulgaria, Bulgarian companies in the sphere of tourism and trade, takes active part with own program in the organization of the Bulgarian evenings entitled "Vechera" ( during which different Bulgarian companies have the chance to promote their activities as well as in different international tourist exhibitions.

Concerts. Traditionally the monthly program of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute includes two concerts having in mind that we have "own" chamber ensemble "Cantuc Firmus" which has been working in close cooperation with the Bulgarian Cultural Institute for years. It is necessary to stress on the fact that pieces by Bulgarian creator are a must in every concert. The topical evenings enjoy great interest and numerous audience - these are the spring concerts held in May, the Easter Festival, the festive concerts on the occasion of the Day of the Slav writing and culture.

In May 2010 the second batch of graduates in the courses of Bulgarian language completed its study. Diplomas for successfully completion of the first and second year were given in a festive atmosphere. We are happy to admit that the number of those who wish to study Bulgarian is increasing.

Currently we are organizing courses in Bulgarian folk dances conducted by a very talented choreographer who had been working for the dance group of the "Filip Kutev" State ensemble. We hope that the new school year will attract much more candidates.
